For years celebrities have been advocating skincare lines, insisting that you’ll achieve incredible results with minimal effort. Jennifer Lopez says she simply uses olive oil to combat dry skin. The Kardashians insist they don’t use Photoshop or filters and have never had any surgery – but we consumers are cleverer than that.
The truth of the matter is that no cream is ever going to give you the long-lasting results you’re looking for. So when I see women being open about the real treatments that they have, I absolutely celebrate. Why should we deny that we’ve had work done? We should embrace it – it’s a good thing!
When Judy Murray revealed to the Daily Mail that she had undergone non-surgical cosmetic beauty treatments, I saluted her. She wasn’t afraid to admit that after years of unhappiness with how she looked, she decided to take action and invest in a non-surgical face lift. Now, she says her “skin is fresher, clearer, and I feel much better about myself”. That’s what it’s really about; feeling good on the inside as well as the outside. Being one with your mind, body and spirit is the key to happiness.
How did Judy Murray achieve her youthful results?
Although to the trained eye it’s clear that Judy has undergone a mixture of prescription skincare treatments for a number of months, the main one she’s recommending is Radio Frequency Induced Microneedling Treatment. She had three courses of it approximately 6-8 weeks apart. The device used on Judy was the Morpheus8 (you can see this briefly in the video in the Daily Mail article here) which uses 28 needles. The treatment I carry out myself at the Dr Rita Rakus Clinic uses a medical grade device called INTRAcel Pro which has 49 needles.
So what’s the process? Tiny insulated needles penetrate the skin delivering an electrical current to create a controlled trauma, which encourages the body to produce new collagen to rejuvenate your skin. The radio frequency energy from INTRAcel produces enough thermal energy to denaturalise the cell, and destroy the causes of acne, acne bacteria, and sebaceous glands. This non-invasive treatment is one of the best available to smooth wrinkles, tighten and lift the skin, and give you next-level anti-ageing results.

On top of this, Judy will have also had Obagi Skin Care, a prescription strength medical skincare. I personally prefer to use Universkin. It goes further than Obagi as it’s entirely bespoke; designed, prescribed and tailor-made for the patient. We’re able to adapt the 19 active ingredients and their concentrations to suit your skincare needs, whether that’s to tackle skin texture, redness, pigmentation…the list goes on!
My advice for rejuvenating your skin
It’s no longer a risk to look after your face. Nowadays, to look 10 years younger you don’t have to go under the knife. With the advanced technology at our fingertips your skin can look more youthful in a safe and effective way, and with no downtime required.
Not everyone will have amazing results as much as Judy Murray, and some people might have BETTER results, but my advice is this:
- Get a consultation with a trusted medical doctor in the sector to get them to develop a personal plan for you.
- If you want to see dramatic results, you’ve got to REALLY go for it. Not one or two treatments here or there.
- Finally, you need to get a maintenance package designed for you. This is essential. Maintenance is what will keep the results up and have a lasting effect.
Most importantly, celebrate that work you’ve had done – you deserve it!
