Today I won’t teach you how to dry brush in a pretty, Instagram-friend way. I’ll show you how to dry brush in a healthy and scientific way. Get your brush ready and let’s go! Just promise me one thing: that you will make a habit out of it.

Why do we dry brush?

Because there are multiple lymph nodes in our bodies which are crucial in blood circulation and lymphatic drainage. And these guys love 3 things:

a) when you drink lots of water
b) when you do physical exercises
c) when you dry brush your skin

Remember: always brush the dry skin! That’s why it’s called dry brushing, d’uh.

The lymph nodes are situated alongside the face, the neck, the collarbone, the chest, in the armpits, in the elbows, in the abdomen, in the groin and under the knees. When you’re brushing, you have to make sure that you’re working towards the big lymph nodes. From the toes towards your knees, from your hands towards elbows, etc.

Go circular on the chest and on the abdomen. Don’t be afraid to put a little bit of force into it. Sure, you can’t put a lot of pressure on your back but it’s okay: there aren’t a lot of important lymph nodes there.

Happy brushing, everyone!
